about me

Red dirt in my veins
Ocean at my feet
Wind in my hair
Stars in my eyes
Stories on my tongue

Basket and fibre-sculpture by Karen Wyld

Who am I? Identity is so complex but if I was to put it into one sentence: I’m a middle-aged motorbike-riding Aboriginal writer and bookseller, with ratbag tendencies.

In between family responsibilities, my daily life fluctuates between: I write and I want to write. When fortune is smiling, I do a bit of freelance writing, blogging or working on future novels. My debut novel, When Rosa Came Home, was short-listed for a South Australian People’s Choice Award in 2015.

Anyway, welcome to my blog. Stay awhile, look around, make yourself comfortable.

      • Cool Karen! I think your writing is the most brilliantly ‘real’ I’ve come across in years. No need to answer this one – compliments can lead to lurking under beds sometimes – I mean it though. This tagging was great fun too.

  1. Thank you for adding me to your circles on Google+. I see we have Carol Wyer in common and she is a dear friend to me and her books are just awesome. That led me to your blog and it’s quite interesting from what I’ve seen so far. You are busy!! I’m a blogger and want to get started with my serious writing and just can’t seem to get started. So much going through my head at 500 mph. lol I’ll get there. Looking forward to getting to know you and your work better.
